Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Brazoria County, Texas?
In Texas, the statute of limitations for most personal injury claims is two years from the date of the accident. If you do not file a lawsuit within this two-year window, you will likely lose your right to seek compensation.
What should I do immediately after a car accident in Brazoria County?
First, seek immediate medical attention for any injuries. Call local law enforcement (such as the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office or local police) to file an official report. Document the scene by taking photographs of vehicle damage, injuries, and the surrounding area. Collect contact and insurance information from all drivers and witnesses, and contact an experienced local personal injury attorney before giving detailed statements to insurance adjusters.
How much does it cost to hire Rice and Sanes Law for an injury case?
Rice and Sanes Law handles personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. This means there are no upfront legal fees, and you do not pay unless we successfully recover a settlement or verdict for your case.
Can I still recover compensation if I was partially at fault for the accident?
Yes. Texas follows a modified comparative negligence rule (also known as proportionate responsibility). You can recover damages as long as your responsibility for the accident is 50% or less. However, your total financial recovery will be reduced by your percentage of fault.
Do I really need to hire a personal injury attorney?
Every case is unique. It is important to discuss your case with your attorney first. Our team can help you make an informed decision about which course of action is best for you and your case.
We work for you! Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for lawyers representing the insurance company.
